The new research institute is an important building module in the K+S Group’s efforts to significantly advance research and analysis processes. This will therefore create the prerequisites for additionally strengthening the leading technological position in the extraction and processing of domestic rock and potash salts, as well as the innovative strength of the K+S Group.

The new building in Unterbreizbach provides state-of-the-art analytical and process engineering laboratories as well as a technical center for more than 90 scientific staff and laboratory assistants. In addition to office workplaces, common areas such as storage rooms, social rooms, changing rooms and shower rooms were created. The internal structure of the modern functional building can be utilized not only flexibly but can be adapted also to modifications retrospectively without great structural effort. Special attention was paid to energy efficiency and economy.
